Whilst surfing the intranet, I selected to install an executable file and then decided against it. Since then System Alerts/ warnings are being flashed on my computer, I am being forced to buy a anti spyware toolkit. What other precautions should be taken in the meantime ?

Could anyone help me to deal with this problem?

PS: Norton Anti Virus Tool Kit has not been helpful.
